*CONTAINS MAJOR SEASON 3 SPOILERS*

A poem by one of Lost in the Philippines' staff members.

Fate Wins

How many times did we play this game with fate?
How many times did I see the flashes before my eyes?
I warned you, I tried to save you.
I gambled your life with my life.
But we were walking on thin ice, standing on broken glass.
How many times did we pass by this farewell?

You were picking up good vibrations. "Farewell"
not now, it seemed. You even smiled & said "So much for fate."
We would have left the Looking Glass
after looking straight in Death's eyes.
You would have returned home, to them, & celebrated life.
But he was still there. Lurking, waiting for you.

Tap tap tap. You turned around. And he smiled at you.
In his hand, he held up his heartless, cruel farewell.
I ran to you, I needed to save your life.
But you shut the door, you wouldn't let me share your fate.
You wouldn't let Death take me too. I saw it in your eyes...
I was too late. In between us, thick metal & glass.

I heard the blast. I saw the way it shattered the glass.
You stood still, as the ocean reached for you.
You watched the water swirl around the room with your eyes...
Then you grabbed a pen, wrote on your hand. Your farewell
message. Your final card to play. Your final jab at fate.
But for those back home - not for yourself, not for your life.

You began to struggle... You began to drown... Your life
was slipping away as you pressed your hand up to the glass.
I got your message. Such was this harsh game of fate.
The story will continue. But how does it go on without you?
And of all the words in the world, you chose those as your farewell.
The price for rescue, to be seen by outside eyes.

There was nothing to be said. I just looked into your eyes,
those last precious seconds of your life.
You nodded & gave a small smile, in a silent farewell...
And with your last breath, drifted away from the glass.
No one else was there to say goodbye. It was just me & you.
Such was your destiny. Such was your fate.

Fate won, we lost. I saw the surrender in your eyes.
I watched you, helplessly, through the pane of glass.
Watched you let go of life, and embrace death. Goodbye, my friend. Farewell.

Blog EntrySeason 3 Review by Mara FabellaAug 12, '07 6:36 AM
for everyone

What will happen to Sawyer, Kate, and Jack? Are Eko and Locke still alive? What happened to the hatch and what was that big purple flash? Where did Michael and Walt go? And one of the most puzzling questions yet - what is up with the four-toed statue?

These were some - and that's just some, there are a lot more - of the questions that the second season of LOST left us with after its two-part finale Live Together Die Alone. Season two marked a huge turn in the plotline of LOST with the introduction of that big big mystery that is DHARMA. Not to mention freaky Henry Gale. For some fans of the show, the whole new array of questions, numbers, symbols, and videos that came with the new season was too much to cope with, claiming they were "lost" in LOST. Most agree that season 1 was better and much more simple. Even though LOST did lose some of its viewers, one can't help but wonder about the answers to the questions above...

Being a huge LOST fan from the beginning, as well as a Sawyer fangirler, the premiere of the first episode of Season 3 , "A Tale of Two Cities" was a huge thing for me. And in my opinion, it was well worth those painstaking hiatus months. From the very beginning of the episode, I was shocked at how much information was revealed. The plane crash, the others, Juliet, Ben - all in the first few minutes of the episode. It made me wonder what was in store for the rest of the episode, not to mention the next 22 episodes of the season.

The first few episodes of the season took off right where the last season left off.  Being introduced to all these new surroundings and all the information blew me away! It was not only the action and suspense, but I also noticed that as each episode passed, LOST's amazing quality began to return. The episodes began to go back to those emotional roots that were so deep in season 1. I also began to see more of those profound  symbolic moments re-emerge. I still was disappointed that the legendary season 1 Locke did not return completely, but fortunately he got rid of a bit of his computer mania. I was happy however, with Kate. In this season (especially in the first six episodes) we got to see her in her ass-kicking glory. I also loved seeing the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle at its height! Kate and Sawyer admitting they love each other, Kate having feelings for Jack, Jack showing affection for Kate - I'm personally for Sawyer and Kate, but I have a feeling it's Jate in the end.

The season for me was a huge improvement from the last one and it did redeem my love for the show that was ignited in the first season. LOST has proven that it can bounce back from the confusion and messiness and continue its moving juxtapositions of real life and trying to survive when you are lost in your own life. In my opinion, this season should have merited an emmy nomination, especially for the writing ( "The Man from Tallahassee" being one of the most brilliantly written so far). Though LOST still has a few episodes to go before reattaining the grandeur of episodes like "Walkabout", it is worth watching for those fans who have gotten "lost" in the plot. This season was amazing (And the finale made me want to
scream into a pillow and tear my hair off - which I almost did) and I cannot wait for next season to come out. Unfortunately, us LOSTies will have to wait until next year to find out what will happen to our beloved castaways, but if season 4 turns out to be even better than this season , then it's well worth the wait for me!

Namaste !
